As we reach the midway point of the summer, horse show season is in full swing. Back in December, I got a helmet cam as a Christmas present, but being somewhat technologically challenged, it took me until summer to get it up and running.

Below is the result: a first-hand view of my Appaloosa, Jester, and me running the Novice cross-country course at the Champagne Run Horse Trials in Lexington, Ky.

It’s fun for me to look back at the fences that rode well, and even the ones that didn’t. Overall he put in a solid performance with no jumping or time penalties.

Cross-country is a true adrenaline rush—not without risks, of course—but when your horse enjoys it and has training suitable for the level, it is the best feeling in the world to gallop over jumps!

You’ve got one good horse. And you can tell he likes jumping because his ears are pricked, and i also love how you reward him at the end.
