Get to Know Adoptable Horse Jemini

This handsome light gray gelding stands quietly at the gate, watching the world go by with a calm, level-headed expression. He’s already broke to ride, which makes him a step ahead of many prospects — but he’s still a work in progress, and we’re being honest about that.

Jemini is currently carrying a bit too much weight — slightly obese, which Houston Humane will be addressing carefully. He’s pending a full veterinary workup, so they don’t yet have his full health picture. He’s also pending an under-saddle evaluation — Houston Humane knows he’s been ridden before, but they want to see how he goes under saddle now, in his current condition, before they make any promises about his job or level. This evaluation will also help them gauge his fitness, manners, and suitability for different riders.

From what Houston Humane can see, Jemini is a sensible, easygoing sort — the type that stands politely while you groom him and doesn’t fuss over much. He seems like the kind of horse who wants to please, once he understands the question.

The plan is straightforward: get Jemini through his vet workup, address his weight with a sensible feeding and exercise program, and get him evaluated under saddle. Once Houston Humane knows where he stands health-wise and how he goes under saddle, they’ll have a much clearer picture of the right home for him. If you’re looking for a project with potential — a horse who’s already started but needs the right person to finish the job — he might be worth a look.
