Barn Banter episode 19 guest Sarah Louise Lilley

Sarah Louise Lilley is a clinical Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT or “Tapping”) practitioner. She loves helping people overcome fears, blocks and phobias, as well as supporting equestrians who have experienced trauma to get back in the saddle with ease and confidence.

Sarah is also a mom and avid equestrian, always counting down the days until she can get back on a horse!

Brandon, Adoptable Horse of the Month

This month, our hosts chat with Bonnie McRae, Director of After the Races in Elkton, Md., about a big, sweet, and gorgeous gray Thoroughbred that is suitable for a career that doesn’t involve jumping.

Brandon’s Smile, AKA Brandon. Photo courtesy After the Races

Brandon’s Smile is a 4-year-old, 17+ hand high, gray gelding that came to After the Races in partnership with New Start at Penn National Race Course. “Brandon” raced just 5 times and never did hit the board. Brandon’s evaluations at the farm found him to be a bit weak behind on arrival and subsequent evaluations have found some mild neurological deficits. Neck radiographs showed what may be an OCD around c6/c7. While this will be limiting, it is not career ending.

Brandon is incredibly sweet, kind, and definitely fits the description of “gentle giant.” After the Race’s vet believes he will make a nice trail horse or pleasure horse for someone who wants something big, gray, and kind and has modest goals.

Learn more about Brandon here.
