The woman that started it turned out to be a narcissist and her only contribution was drinking wine with owners to look like a philanthropist. She and her organization are a failure to those of us who worked so hard and especially to the horses.

Horses are all wanted, greedy breeders overbreed and that is not horses fault. Nothing that pro-slaughter groups can be trusted as they are devious prolific liars who prey on horses for profit-and although they lie and present themselves as caring for horses, really they don’t. Which side are you on Horse channel ? I guess you are on the slaughterers side !

He has turned out to be the best horse. He was a lot cheaper than a horse that you could get from a farm. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A FIRST HORSE ADOPT ONE IN NEED. A lot people think that rescue horses are older and not that great to ride. But it is not true. My horse that I rescued is 4 and everyone in the barn wants him. He has turned out to be a really great first horse. And me being 11 he is one of the best horses I could ever hope for! If you are had any doubts about rescueing a horse hopped this changed your mind. Horses are amazing no matter where they come from!

However, I do want to make a small critique about the author’s opinion on what factors determine the quality of a rescue. Not all 501(c)3 rescues are really rescues, some are really dealers who disguise their commerce by calling a sale an adoption and call all of their equines “rescues” even if there was nothing wrong with the animal when it arrived. Also, not all “for-profit” rescues are salacious profiteers. Our rescue, for example, is a state-licensed shelter for horses but we have chosen to stay private because we have very high standards and insist on maintaining total control over what happens on our farm. We have gone down the non-profit path before and it was nothing but headaches. Between the personnel’s dissonance about how to do things, the cost of incorporating, and the bookkeeping nightmares, we have chosen to keep our sanity by staying for-profit. That doesn’t mean we make money, quite the contrary. We don’t get much in the way of donations from others because we are not a non-profit so that means everything we do for our horses comes out of our own pockets. I just wanted to point out that just because an organization is a non-profit, doesn’t mean they are more reputable or better caretakers of rescued equines. The proof is in the pudding, as they say, and anyone interested in a rescued equine should check out all of their local equine rescues, NOT just the non-profits!

I encourage anyone out there wanting to buy a horse to go to the rescues first.Because you’ll get a Usually cheaper price, and you will HAVE to take good care of him which is good on the horse’s part and yours.
