My horse also rubbed the top of his tail, he looked like he had a pig tail on top. I found a good mixture. 1/3 Brown Listerine, 1/3 Baby Oil, 1/3 water. Just spray it on and rub in. Stops the itch. Good for dogs w/hot spots.

I Quarter Horse is 22 yrs old and has a very tuff time with insects Spring thru Summer. He not only rubs his tail raw but will rub his face raw. I have tryed all more everything on the market but nothing really works. I hate put chemicals on him every day.

And using your fingers to comb out your horses tail is a good way to get out all the tangles, rather than using a comb
