To get them to lay flatter after pulling the hood off before you show– take a small piece from the bottom of the band and pull down while holding the rubber band itself. It should tighten the hair down next to the neck. I have transformed a whole mane’s look by doing this (helpful especially for the horses that have rubbed overnight).

Great Article! You can also band a horses mane with a tool called a Band-It. You can get it at Valley Vet.com. It works so… good. Belive me! And its cheap and fast!
