very helpful article. I have a 38 year old pony who needs more condition and 3 younger horses who’s weight is getting out of control.Looks like i am doing all the right stuff but will add corn oil to my elderly boy’s feed along with his milk powder and yesac.

My horse Lacy gains weight just looking at food! At least that’s what it feels like. I found out she has insulin resistance. So I have to exercise her a lot more than my other horse and she has to stick to root veggies as treats.

We just adopted a horse from a rescue and he is about 200 pounds underweight and about 16 years old. This was very helpful information. Hopefully our new boy will start gaining weight and love his new life.

I am new to the horse arena and wanted the best diet for our horses. The labels on bagged feed told me amounts but I didnt know exactly how much the horsed really needed of a paticular nutrient, this article was very helpfull and I fill more confident when choosing hay and feed. Thank you
