Hoof care is one of a horse owner’s biggest concerns. And with good reason. The age old cliché “No hoof, no horse” has proven to be one of the most astute observations ever made. I’ve learned this the hard way after owning horses that have suffered from a variety of lamenesses.
Of course understanding the importance of proper hoof care and determining whether your horse is getting it are two completely different things. Most horse owners have come to understand the value of appropriate hoof care, but we don’t know how to recognize it.
Fortunately, experts on the topic of hoof care are more willing than ever to share their wisdom with horse owners. Their goal is to educate owners, so we can become the best advocates for our horses’ hooves.
