I was at the event and right by the jump when Kingpin fell, it was awful but ambulances and medics were there almost instatly and overall the staff did a great job of taking control of the situation. It was very sad but atleast in his last moments he was doing something he loved.

I hope Mike recovers fast. All that hard work & training, those two must really share a bond, now they have to share the pain, lets hope well see them again real soon, & maybe they’ll win!

And as for the person from Australia, KY, yeah it stinks that horses die in these competitions, but what about horse racing? According to Animal Aid’s website, hundreds of Thoroughbreds are raced to death each year. Personally, I don’t believe the answer is to get rid of racing/4* Eventing completely; I do think that we need to discover safer methods, technology, and equipment. Things like safer turf, safer, less-solid eventing jumps, etc. Plus, it’s up to the trainers/riders to be more responsible and not push they’re horses too far, and to not be so money-thirsty. I highly doubt that will change much, though. R.I.P Kingpin 🙁

That was on his first ride Reggie! Just a five hour 2 horse error.

Funny, but i just DO NOT remember horses dying of ‘anyersims’ in the #s they do now,
! nor did they break their necks enmasse like they’ve done at past Rolex’
When will there be a Rolex where a horse doesn’t die? Will the world stop if 4* eventing ceases to be? I think not. The company must be so proud to give its name to such a morbid event. ?
