So sad. That explains why they couldn’t find anything with the infrared–he wasn’t warm anymore.
It seems so stupid, though…the 800-1000 pound horse breaks his back while running in terror from a mostly harmless 50-80 pound dog. The survival mechanism can just as easily cause destruction, especially in a modern horse’s environment.
Though it was an unforeseen freak-accident, it is a prime example of why 1) Keep your dog on a leash when around horses/other animals/children that don’t know him, and 2) despook your horse from anything you can think of.

I held onto the thought of the owner reuniting with her horse. I am so sorry for this loss. It was a terrible loss. And I know this horse will be missed.

Has the owner of the dog taken any responsibility? That is why there are dog leash laws and people with dogs need to respect horses as a fight or flight animal. Shame on the dog owner. Don’t get me wrong, I love dogs, but when a dog is in public or around horses the owner needs to be respectful. I hope they find the horse and he is safe and well.

i hope she finds him. Sounds like someone caught him and are hanging on to him in hopes of an award 🙁 I hope if someone did find him they are treating him well.
