Secretariat statue in Lexington, Kentucky38 years after Secretariat’s historic Triple Crown victory, his fans are still celebrating his memory. This year marks the fourth annual Secretariat Festival to be held at the Bourbon County Fairgrounds in Paris, Ky.

Admission to the festival is free. Visitors will be able to tour Claiborne Farm, where Secretariat is buried, meet his owner Penny Chenery, view historic race videos and watch the 2010 Disney movie about Secretariat.

Friday, September 23

  • 5:00-9:00 pm: Artwalk in downtown Paris
  • 8:00 pm: Maker’s Mark bourbon tasting and hand-painted barrel auction at Migdaglia’s restaurant

Saturday, September 24

  • 9:00 am: 5k Big Red Run/Walk
  • 9:00 am – 3:00 pm: Claiborne Farm Tours (departing every half hour)
  • 10:30 am: Autograph signings with
  • Penny Chenery – Secretariat’s owner
  • Ron Turcotte – Secretariat’s jockey
  • Charlie Davis – Secretariat’s exercise rider
  • Plus other Kentucky Derby winning jockeys
  • Secretariat movie screening
  • Equine art and Secretariat memorabilia show
  • Demonstrations with adoptable retired racehorses from the TRF Secretariat Center
  • Demonstrations with Arabians, Minis, Shetland Ponies, Gypsy Horses and more
