The first two weeks of the Angelstone International Show Jumping Tournaments came to a close Sunday, June 2nd. Exhibitors at the Spring Series included many of North America’s best riders: Ian Millar, Ainsley Vince, Conor Swail, and more.

Ian Millar and Dixson proved unbeatable during the first week of competition, winning both the $33,000 FEI Animo Open Welcome on Thursday, May 23rd, as well as the $50,000 FEI Grand Prix on Saturday, May 25th. Internationally renowned designer Anthony D’Ambrosio created a course that challenged both horse and rider, leading to a jump off between Millar on Dixson and Conor Swail on Landsdowne.

“The course by Anthony D’Ambrosio was a difficult test today and a worthy challenge,” said Millar. “The team at Angelstone has done a superb job here at this marvelous facility to grow the sport in Canada, and I would like to congratulate them on a great start to their 2013 Season.”

After a seven-way jump off, the second $50,000 FEI Grand Prix of the six-week Angelstone Tournament, held on Saturday, June 1st, was won by Ainsley Vince and Frieda with Andrew Bourns and Gatsby coming in a close second.

Hunters also had a place at Angelstone Tournament. The Canadian Hunter Derby Series Opening Day in Ontario was also held at Angelstone took place on Saturday, May 25th. Jeff Brandmaier and Knightwood Stables’ Magic Show scored a 102 to win the Dewey McLeod Hunter Derby.

“We are very pleased by the level of competition on display in the Spring Series and look forward to seeing even more in the weeks ahead,” said Keean White, President of Angelstone Tournaments. “As a show jumper, I wanted to be able to bring the sport to my backyard in Eastern Canada, and I am so glad the Angelstone Team has been able to provide that opportunity.”

Competition returns to the Angelstone Equestrian Park beginning on August 7th with the Ottawa Launch Event and culminating in the International CSI-W the week of September 25th.
