Two horses and riders were just struck by a distracted driver in GA. It happens. Don’t be an idiot – wear the helmet. For that matter, embrace the helmet! Pus some sparkle on it, dress it up, have fun with it, just wear it!

But to make it a law? Really? If I am on a baby or training a younger horse I will absolutely wear one but if I am on my show horse who I know isn’t going to hurt me I wont wear one. I just turned 16, and I will have my license soon. If we can make the choice to drive a vehicle that could also kill us or injure us just as bad or worse, at the age of 16, I think we should have the choice whether we wear a helmet or not.

I don’t want them to have to take care of me after a brain injury. My helment saved my life just last year after my horse took an unexpected tumble on flat ground. Maybe it shouldn’t be a law, but I sure wish more people would voluntarily wear one.

Anyone who rides should be wearing a helmet.
