Even though the ground is softened with dirt sand and sawdust, a horse could still get hurt and/or possibly get killed by such stupidity. I wish the humane society would stop this shit once and for all. War movies and westerns could still be made with people falling off horses and let the horse keep running. Making them fall is extremely risky. As far as actors are concerned, who gives a shit if they get hurt or killed falling off a horse?! If they’re STUPID enough to willingly fall off a horse running at top speed then that’s their choice. A HORSE HAS NO CHOICE IN SUCH STUPIDITY! A beautiful animal such as a horse wants to please their owner and will do whatever is asked when trained. However, their owners can’t possibly LOVE THEM when asking/ allowing them to be trained in this very risky STUPIDITY! Yet the horse will STILL love THEM UNCONDITIONALLY!!!
It makes me sick. I won’t even watch any program where ANY animal is depicted.

I’ve always wondered about how they got horses to do such things, especially because in a natural setting a fall can be a death sentence to a horse. So, it must take a very special horse with a very special trainer to develop those specialized behaviors. Thanks for the informative article.

Cocaine was trained amongst other horses on Chuck’s ranchette on Wheatland Road in Sunland-Tujunga, CA. In addition to training stunt horses which included one of my own, he also mentored other horse trainers and stuntmen including my long time friend Terry Leonard. Chuck doubled John Wayne for three decades, acted in too many western movies and TV episodes to count. When Chuck was not featured in an episode, his horse Cocaine generally was. Both Chuck and Cocaine made their transition to WESTERN HEAVEN at his White Lane ranch in Bakersfield, CA.

He will roll when I tell him so there’s hope.

I do not think I could do it.
