Nancy Reagan: Equestrian

By White House Photographic Office [Public domain], via Wikimedia Commons

Nancy Reagan, wife of 40th U.S. President Ronald Reagan, passed away on Sunday, March 6, at the age of 94.

Reagan was known for her work in drug abuse prevention through the “Just Say No” campaign of the 1980s and as an advocate for Alzheimer’s research after her husband’s death from the disease in 2004. She may not be as well known for her equestrian pursuits, but as these photos from Getty Images show, she and her husband loved riding horses on their El Rancho Del Cielo in California.

The proposed Ronald Reagan Equestrian Campground in Malibu, California, would commemorate the Reagans’ love of horses and riding. Read about it here.
