An American Success Story

American driving champion Chester Weber, who just had his sixth consecutive victory in a row with his win last week at the Garden State CDE in New Jersey, is a force to be reckoned with. He has won championships in every major driving division and is among the top 10 international competitors.

Indeed, Weber has had an illustrious career. From 1993 to early 1999, he represented the United States Equestrian Team (USET) in pairs driving. A graduate of Cornell University, he was the youngest driver to qualify for the World Pairs Driving Championships and the youngest driver to win the USET National Championships. At 18, he was the youngest driver named to the USET.

From 1997 through 1999, Weber made history by competing in and winning 12 consecutive advanced combined driving events, but then he moved on to an even greater challenge. In 1999, he made the transition to four-in-hand driving and became the 1999 Four-in-Hand U.S. Reserve Champion. He made history again this past March when he collected his sixth consecutive United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) Four-In-Hand National Championship title.

Now he’s preparing for the big win: the World Four-in-Hand Championships, which take place in Beesd, Netherlands, Sept. 3-7. To ready himself for the event, he’s traveling to Europe. In July, he plans to compete at prestigious competitions in Aachen and Riesenbeck, Germany. These competitions will help ensure his horses are in top shape before presenting them in the World Horse Championships.
