Create a Costume, Win Cash

The Batmobile. A dragon. An elephant. These are just a few of the creative costumes from years past at Halloween with Horses, presented by Murdoch’s Ranch and Home Supply. With a little creativity and cooperation from your fun-loving horse or pony, you could win $1,000 at the eighth annual Halloween with Horses costume contest wil be Oct. 20. at the Colorado Horse Park in Parker, Colo. Horses and riders of all ages are welcome to this fun event held in conjunction with a popular family fall festival. This year, judges will be looking for the costumed horse and rider who demonstrate the most originality and flair. The grand prize is $1,000.

The top placings from each age category (12 and under, 13-21 and 21 and over) also receive cold hard cash for their efforts. First place in each category is awarded $100; second place earns $75; and third place receives $50. Entry fee is $40 for pre-entry or $50 after Oct. 14.

Once again, the Halloween with Horses fall festival is fun for the whole family. There’s a trick-or-treat barn, pony and horse rides, food and shopping and much more.
Entry forms for the horse costume contest can be downloaded at www.halloweenwithhorses.org, where you can also take a look at the photo gallery to see just how extravagant the costumes can get when cash prizes are at stake.
