Pretty Ponies Converge at National Show

Shetland ponies will be competing in jumping, driving, halter and youth classes during the Platform® American Shetland Pony National Championship Congress show August 1-4 at the Gordyville Arena in Gifford, Ill. Admission is free and spectators can enjoy ringside viewing and close interaction with the ponies and their owners. Favorite classes for spectators include the costume classes, the fast-paced roadster driving classes and the liberty classes.

Last year’s Shetland Pony Congress show drew nearly 500 entries from all over the United States. “Shetland ponies are very versatile and compete in a variety of competitions, and the best of best go head to head each year at this Congress Championship show,” says Zona Schneider,American Shetland Pony Club director of operations.

The American Shetland Pony Club will host a hospitality booth throughout the show and provide free information and brochures on American Shetland Ponies. There will also be vendors offering everything from pony apparel to plush toy ponies.

  • After raising and showing minis and ponies as well as dressage and driving regular size horses for 40 years....I learned one thing - the ponies are way smarter and engaged. Usually smarter then their handler . Unless you have a true heart for a pony don't buy one! I LOVE mine.
