WEF Wraps up with Budweiser American Invitational

April 4, 2008—The upcoming 36th annual Budweiser American Invitational on Saturday, April 5, 2008, in Tampa, Fla., is considered to be one of the nation’s most prestigious show jumping events, with the best riders from around the world competing for a $200,000 grand prize.

The event takes place at the Raymond James Stadium, and among the invited competitors is defending Invitational champion Beezie Madden aboard Authentic, along with top American Grand Prix Association riders and the top prize-winning riders from the Winter Equestrian Festival. A portion of proceeds from the event will be donated to the Tampa Police Mounted Patrol.

The Budweiser American Invitational also serves as the grand finale to the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) that began Jan. 16. The WEF is one of the world’s largest and richest shows. Over the past 11 weeks, the event has awarded more than $3 million in total prize money. The WEF has featured hunter/jumper and dressage competition, ranging from top-level competitors down to children’s pony classes.
