World Cup Winners

The sixth time was the charm for Beat Mandli of Switzerland. Riding Ideo du Thot, the longtime World Cup veteran captured his first Rolex FEI World Cup Show Jumping title at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. Daniel Deusser of Germany placed second on Air Jordan Z. There was a tie for third between Steve Guerdat of Switzerland on Tresor V and Markus Beerbaum of Germany on Leena.

Dressage was a sold out venue during the Finals, and in the end it was a standing ovation for Isabell Werth of Germany. She was crowned the 2007 Rolex FEI World Cup Dressage Champion, riding Warum Nicht FRH to a decisive victory.

Werth, who also won the World Cup title in 1992, received a dazzling score of 84.250%. Placed first by all five judges, she was awarded two artistic scores over 90.000%, and a perfect 10 for music and interpretation, the only one in the competition to receive such marks.

Imke Schellekens-Bartels of The Netherlands scored 77.950 riding Sunrise to finish second, slightly ahead of the 1996 Olympic Team Bronze medalist, Steffen Peters of the United States who was third on Floriano with 77.800.

  • Switzerland and the Netherlands may have been big winners, but what about the excellent results of the German team? They were among the top 3 in all competitions, not to mention Isabell Werth's record-breaking dressage scores!! Doesn't that deserve inclusion in the title line, as well...?
