There really is no reason why one cannot eat healthy while showing horses.

Our best seller is the fried egg sandwich you spoke of. We use bacon, egg and cheese on toast. We grill burgers and hotdogs as well, but no fries and nothing deep fried. Everyone loves the “breakfast sandwich” that we make fresh when ordered.

I usually eat boiled eggs at the hotel and bring my own oatmeal and protein powder for breakfast. I also be sure to grab a handful of apples and bananas on the way out. I’m definitely bringing a cooler to the next show, after almost withering away at the last one. I would love to see healthier options.

The only time I get good food at a horse show is at Rancho Murietta Complex, Sacramento CA. These ladies know how to present goood! food!! I ought to hug them next time I see them. 🙂

Myself and my mother are the owners of the STREET BISTRO FOOD TRUCK, horse show vendors and equestrians. And we are appalled by the food provided at equine events. This was not our only reason to start our food truck but it has definitely helped us create our unique menus. I am a fourth level dressage rider and my mother in a novice eventer I am always asking my self “could I do a 1/2 hour of sitting trot after eating this” and the answer has to be yes for the majority of our menu items to make it on the list. Equestrian are hard core athletes and they need to feed, fuel and reward their hard working bodies with whole foods that haven’t been over processed and that are packed with nutrients and that are most of all are DELICIOUS! We are thrilled by the positive response our food has provoked at shows we attend here in Ocala FL, we were recently featured inThe Cronical of The Horse in the Competitors top pick for horse show food in ocala FL for the 2014 season. We hope the healthy food trend spread to more shows soon. Our advice for now is to research the food available at the competition you are attending and if not healthy options are available bring a bagged lunch! Stay healthy and stay strong in best regards Colby Bennett and Kim Smith of streetbistrofoodtruck.com

At the show barns where I live there are everything from veggie burgers, to full home made breakfasts, home made potato salad, chicken burgers, sausage, etc.

High end hunting coolers can hang onto their ice for up to three days. Bring your own healthy goodness!
Fiber bars are a great choice for quick snacking. Gnu Food makes a good variety that are pretty tasty. They are healthy and filling. Plus, my horse loves them too!
