Wild Horses on Great Abaco Island

The world’s most endangered breed of horse is the Abaco Barb (sometimes called the Abaco Wild Horse.) These horses are believed to be direct descendants of horses brought over by early Spanish explorers. With only five individuals remaining from a herd that once numbered around 200 on the island of Great Abaco, survival is an uphill struggle.
