Video of the Week: Side Saddle Team Chasing

In the sport of team chasing, a group of four horse-and-rider pairs navigate a course of cross-country obstacles. The third rider’s finish time is recorded as the team’s finish to determine the final placings (the fourth rider is there in case one of the other riders on the team falls or withdraws.) In this group, the third horse in line is a pinto pony named Basil, and his rider opted to add to the challenge by riding side saddle.

The sport has a following in Great Britain, but hasn’t quite caught on yet on this side of the pond. Looks like a great way to spend an autumn day to us!
