Featured Videos: When Your Camera Crew is a Horse

Lexington, Kentucky, is the Horse Capital of the World. It’s got the Kentucky Horse Park, hosts the Rolex–er–the Kentucky Three-Day Event, is a hub of the Thoroughbred industry with racetracks and sales pavilions, and is surrounded by seemingly endless horse farms. (It also happens to be the editorial headquarters of your favorite equine magazine, Horse Illustrated.) So if you’re going to make an ad campaign centered around the horsiness of the town, why not employ some horses?

VisitLEX released several short spots showing the viewpoint of horses at Mill Ridge Farm, a Thoroughbred breeding farm west of the city of Lexington.

Want to have your horse film a clip of his own? Whit Hiler of ad agency Cornett, the shop behind the campaign, explains that they used GoPro harnesses meant for dogs to attach the cameras to the horses.

“It just so happened to fit perfectly on a horse’s head,” Hiler told Adweek.

VisitLEX also released a short behind-the-scenes clip showing the equine videographers being outfitted with their gear. Check it out, and let us know if this campaign has convinced you to come visit!
