Continuing Our Kentucky Three-Day Event Tribute for Cross-Country Day

We are continuing our Kentucky Three-Day Event tribute for the cross-country day. Enjoy these cross-country rides from some fan favorite riders.

This video features a helmet cam and commentary from Doug Payne as he rides Running Order during the 2012 Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event. Doug Payne is a gold-medal winner from the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru. He is also an international grand prix show jumper and an Intermediare dressage judge and U.S. Dressage Federation Silver Medalist. He is also a licensed USEF judge and technical delegate for eventing and a U.S.Eventing Association certified instructor. He and Running Order, who was a former racehorse, were partners from 2008 to 2012. In 2011, he placed third in the USEA Horse of the Year and third in the American Eventing Championships, second at the Cosequin Stuart HT CIC**, and first at the Fair Hill International HT. The pair finished 18th at the 2012 Rolex Kentucky CCI****.

Bruce Davidson, Jr., (also known as Buck) is always a fan favorite at the Kentucky Three-Day Event every year. In this video, he is shown aboard Ballynoe Castle RM, who is affectionately known as Reggie, in the 2013 event. Buck is the son of the initial winner of the first Kentucky Three-Day Event, Bruce Davidson, who won the event in 1978, 1983, 1984, 1988, 1989, and 1993. Buck has earned his own way into Kentucky Three-Day Event history by winning the Pinnacle Trophy as the highest-placed U.S. Rider in 2013 at the Rolex Kentucky CCI***** with Reggie after their third-place finish and in 2009 with My Boy Bobby. In 2012, Buck was named an alternate on the U.S. team at the London Olympic Games following the year he was the #1 ranked rider in the U.S. and a Pan American Games team member. He was also an alternate for the 2008 Hong Kong Olympics with Reggie, and shortlisted for the 2004 FEI World Equestrian Games with Class Touch and the 2000 Sydney Olympics. In 2010, Buck and Reggie were members of the U.S. team at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Lexington, Ky. The pair has also competed at Badminton and Burghley. Reggie was retired at the 2017 Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event. He is a bay 2000 Irish Sport Horse who was named the USEA highest-scoring horse of all time.
