RYAN, YOU MENTION PRAYING THAT YOUR HORSE DOESN’T LOSE A SHOE WHILE YOU LONGE IN SMALL, WET PLACES. THAT’S SORT OF LIKE PLAYING SOME ODD VERSION OF EQUESTRIAN RUSSIAN ROULETTE: “I NEED TO EXERCISE MY HORSE. I THINK I CAN LET HIM TROT AROUND (AND BUCK & PLAY) ON THE LONGE LINE RIGHT HERE FOR A FEW MINUTES. BUT… IS IT WORTH THE GAMBLE OF HIM YANKING OFF A SHOE?” IT IS INDEED A DILEMMA!
YES, RAIN TO THE POINT OF NEEDING SANDBAGS IS A LITTLE EXTREME. THERE’S MORE RAIN COMING AT THE END OF THIS WEEK. AND MORE AFTER THAT. SO THE SANDBAGS ARE STAYING PUT FOR A WHILE!

Winters are always hard here in southern California because we’re not used to it at all. I went trail riding yesterday for the first time since the last set of rains to find all my trails washed out.

Hmm I dont know what’s worse. Here in the northeast the high for yesterday was 10. That’s a record. No amount of layers can keep you warm in that weather! But then again, I can’t imagine having so much rain that we need sandbags. That’s crazy!

What a wonderful review of horsekeeping in Southern California. I just keep longeing in my small space, praying for no lost shoes and just resigning myself to no riding until it dries up or until I can put in a covered ring … which is silly, given that we usually don’t need it here nor can my current line of credit afford it, LOL.
