High Roller is a 6-year-old bay Thoroughbred gelding, who stands approximately 16 hands. He arrived at After the Races in September. He retired from racing through Beyond the Wire in Maryland in July after he suffered a non-displaced condylar fracture. He raced 31 times during his career. High Roller came from very caring connections who were sad to see him go, but happy for him to get the chance to find a new person and new career. He has no vices that staff at After the Races has observed and is very sweet and easy to work around. Their veterinarian went over his radiographs with staff, and they took additional radiographs during his evaluation. While his condylar fracture (which is healing well) isn’t concerning long-term, they also found some changes in his other ankle that may limit him to a lower level career ultimately (think training level eventing or equivalent). As of mid-November, High Roller was cleared to either go out in a small paddock during the day or increase his controlled exercise. The plan is to start letting him jog on the EuroXciser each day and recheck, but so far everything is looking great for him. This son of High Cotton sold for $30,000 as a 2-year-old. He sports Dixieland Band, AP Indy, and Gone West all in his pedigree and will likely be a very athletic, classy guy to work with when he’s ready.
