About Debbie McDonald
Debbie McDonald was an important catalyst in U.S. Dressage’s early success as a result of her accomplishments with her Hanoverian mare Brentina. Together, Debbie and Brentina won the 1999 Pan American Games team and individual gold medal, an Athens 2004 Olympic team bronze medal, a World Equestrian Games 2002 team silver and 2006 team bronze medal, and became the first American to win a FEI World Cup Dressage Final in 2003. Debbie then went on to have a very influential coaching career. She spent more than a decade advancing athlete-and-horse combinations through the U.S. dressage pipeline, guiding three of her athletes and their horses to the Olympics.
