Wanted: Equine Artists Good with Color

Are you talented with a paintbrush? Have you perfected your technique with pastels? Is the world of horses your canvas? Then the American Paint Horse Association wants you! This is your chance for your artistic endeavors to shine at the Paint Horse World Show. The APHA is currently accepting submissions from individuals who dream of becoming the official artist of the 2007 World Championship Paint Horse Show. The annual competition is set for June 24–July 7 in Fort Worth, Texas. The winning artist will have their original artwork reproduced as a commemorative fine art print, plus it will be presented on the cover of the World Show Program and on World Show merchandise. How grand is that?
If you’re not familiar with the APHA World Show, it’s the largest Paint Horse show on earth, with more than 2,000 horses from across the globe exhibited. Because of its high profile, the horse show offers the winning artist two full weeks of excellent exposure to the Paint Horse community and the public in the North Texas area.
For artwork to be accepted, it must be an original piece that includes a Paint horse as a subject. Examples include Paints at liberty or in a show environment.
“We are looking for a piece that captures the unique qualities of this eye-catching breed,” says APHA Creative Director Paul Zinn. “Paint Horses are truly one-of-a-kind—not one is colored alike and each has its own distinct personality.”
