Horse Show Makes Book List

The Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration is listed among the top 1,000 places to see in North America, according to best-selling author and travel writer Patricia Schultz. In her latest book, 1,000 Places to See in the USA and Canada Before You Die, the globetrotting writer sticks to Canada and the good ol’ USA for her inspiration.  And Shelbyville, Tenn., is where she experienced the memorable horse show.

In her description, the author says, “The festival has the air of old-fashioned county fair, replete with smiling beauty queens, a stable-decorating contest, the naming of the World Grand Champion Tennessee Walking Horse, and plenty of leisurely interaction between the gentle steeds and their breeders and fans.”
