Parents are often teaching their children how to do things – going up and down stairs, riding a bike, how to swim and more. Children may be a little intimidated at first, resulting in the parent holding their hand (either literally or figuratively) as they learn the new skill.
For this mare and her colt, it’s the same thing. After she jumps over a small wall, her colt looks on and wanders about, seemingly unsure of how to join his mother. Finally she comes back, steps over the wall and joins him. She takes him away from the wall, then shows him how to gather speed to scale the little wall. He copies her, and accomplishes the task as if he’d done it many times before. We’re sure this mother was proud of her colt.
