Continuing Our Kentucky Three-Day Event Tribute for Dressage

We are continuing our Kentucky Three-Day Event tribute for the second day of dressage. Enjoy these dressage rides from some fan favorite riders.

This video shows Allison Springer and Arthur during their dressage round at the 2017 Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, back when Rolex was the longtime sponsor. This horse and rider are veterans at the event, and their first one was in 2008. In 2012, they were the highest-placed American pair and came in second overall. Arthur is a 1999 17-hand liver chestnut Irish Thoroughbred. He and Allison Springer have been working together since he was five years old. A member of various U.S. Equestrian Teams, they were also shortlisted for the Olympic team in 2012. They have had impressive performances at other international eventing competitions, including the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials CCI5*. Arthur was retired in 2017 due to being diagnosed with a heart condition, so this video shows their last dressage round in the Kentucky Three-Day Event.

Will Faudree, shown in this video with the horse Pawlow during their 2014 dressage ride in the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, was named the U.S. Eventing Association’s Young Rider of the Year in 2002. It was a fitting triumph for this dedicated rider after a life-threatening brain injury and a long recovery period after a fall in 1999. He was a student of Phillip Dutton at the time but went out on his own in 2003. He represented the U.S. as part of the gold-medal team at the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He was then an alternate for the 2004 U.S. Olympic Team in Athens, Greece, and on the 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games team in Aachen, Germany. He was also on the shortlist for the 2012 London Olympic Games and the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Lexington, Ky., with Pawlow, who was also called “Ernie” and “Mr. Perfect.” Pawlow is a 1999 16.1-hand bay Polish Thoroughbred gelding. After this dressage round, Pawlow led the way with a score of 49.8, although the pair did not win that year.

Stay tuned for cross-country and show jumping videos, in addition to more dressage videos (linked below), from leading riders in our Kentucky Three-Day Event tribute.
