Get to Know Adoptable Horse Arthur
Arthur is a 2-year-old unraced, unregistered Thoroughbred gelding by Tacitus (Tapit) and out of Glorified (Honour and Glory).
This young guy is only 14 hands high, but he is growing every day. He cannot be started under saddle until he is at least 2.5 years old, which he will reach December 2026, as he has a misalignment in his right hock (Second Stride has X-rays). Arthur is currently sound but needs to be allowed to develop before being started under saddle. He should be sound for trails and possibly flatwork.
Arthur is an intelligent and curious horse who bonds closely with his daily handlers. He is walking well on a lead rope and is respectful of his surroundings and people. He loves being groomed with a soft curry, stands quietly to have his blanket put on, and is easy to halter. He gets his feet picked daily and is working on standing quietly for the farrier. He will need practice with flay spray and baths.
Arthur enjoys pasture time and is the leader of his herd. Second Stride hasn’t noticed any vices.
Arthur is brave when away from the barn. He bravely hand walks through the farm and attached wooded area with courage. He stops to check things out but boldly continues forward. He is a very kind gelding who trusts his handlers and enjoys being around them.
Arthur’s adopter must be experienced with young horses and must commit to waiting until he is at least 2.5 years of age before starting him under saddle.
